It’s been awhile since the last update on the RX-7. Unfortunately, the cold and wet Pacific Northwest weather hasn’t allowed for much progress lately. Since the day the shell was purchased back in October, I’ve been searching for a shop that would allow me to install an engine and work on the car. Everything that I found was either too large or too small and the rent was always higher than I wanted to pay. Luckily, v8rx7guy (Matt K.) was able to find an open shop on a family member’s rental property. The new renters didn’t want the shop so it was open for us to use!
The first order of business was to find out how much room was available. The shop was previously used for a landscape business so grass seed and equipment was taking up 1/3 of the space. There was also a small car that needed to remain stored in the shop. After we had cleaned and organized for about an hour, a large portion of the shop was completely open for nearly 3 cars.
The following weekend the car was moved from its temporary location into the new shop. Once inside it was obvious that there was enough room for at least 1 other car and an engine stand and engine lift.
Although this post may not be exciting to most people, many enthusiasts know just how important it is to have a clean and dry place to work on your car.
I can assure you that the next post will be far more entertaining – an engine purchase is in the works. 😉
Stay tuned!
