On June 23, 2024 we hosted our very first Subaru-only event with our friends at StanceWars at Pacific Raceways. This event was created to fill a hole in the calendar after a longstanding Subaru event was canceled in March. Rather than not have an event for the large northwest Subaru community, we threw something together and were pleasantly surprised by the turnout!

Nearly 200 cars signed up for the judged Subaru car show and even more for the Subaru VIP Parking on the paddock. This filled up a good portion of the large, paved area at Pacific Raceways that we use every year for SpringFest Seattle in March. When we committed to the date in March, we were concerned about only having 3 months to promote the event, but the NW Subaru community supported us and made this event a success.
The day started around 9am with roll-in for the show and the main gates opened at 10am. Shortly after the main gates opened, Lead / Follow on the racetrack started. It was cool to see groups of only Subaru vehicles on track together when normally it’s a mix of imports and domestics at our other events!
Since the event was held at one of the most popular drag racing tracks in the region, Test-n-Tune Drag Racing was part of our initial plan but due to the lack of interest we made the decision to forego prepping the track surface and staffing this part of the event due to the additional venue cost. If we can get more Subarus to sign up for drag racing in the future, we will plan on having the strip ready.
The judged car show competition was surprisingly competitive in multiple classes. We put together a group of well-respected judges in the Subaru/import community to help us decide the winners. Chris Porter (head judge), Andrew Vun, Jonny Walker, Tina Ellis, and Tanner Smith divided up the classes based on which they were most familiar with and picked some amazing cars for each award. The full list of winners can be found at the bottom of this post.
The final part of the day was a parade lap of only Subaru vehicles around the Pacific Raceways road course. After the award ceremony we lined up everyone that was interested in being a part of it with a slow lap around the track. You can see the photos from this in our Facebook album or in the Michael Ericson album below.
On behalf of myself (Matt Haugness) and Mike Tolliver from StanceWars, THANK YOU to the Subaru community for supporting our event on such short notice. Special thank you to our sponsors/vendors, staff/volunteers, and Pacific Raceways for making this event possible.
